Callington Road: Older Adult Unit Reception Glazing - Stuart Low

Glass artist Stuart Low has been appointed to create the glazing for the entrance rotunda for the new Older Adult Unit. He will be working on ideas to create a welcoming and uplifting first impression to the outside entrance of this unit and to enhance the interior of the reception and waiting area with pattern, colour and light. This glazing commission will create a focal point to the outside of the unit and impact on the interior in a soothing and calming way, humanising and personalising the space and providing a unique identity for the unit.

Draft Design for glazing to Older Adult Unit Reception

Alongside the main entrance to the older adult unit is a glazed circular rotunda where visitors may also sit and wait. Stuart Low has designed glazing which will run around the space, providing a glow of textured and coloured light. The work aims to provide a calm and uplifting atmosphere for those who enter the building. It also hopes to provoke the senses through hinting at growth and regeneration, movement, wind and rain, petals/pollen on the breeze.
