Callington Road: Older Adult Unit Textiles - June Heap

Textile artist June Heap has been appointed to design and make a series of textiles to enhance the Day Unit within the Older Adult Unit by introducing colour and soft surfaces to the environment to make it a welcoming and reassuring space. June has involved service users through participatory workshops to help create the textile artworks.

Draft Designs for Older Adult Unit Textiles

June has devised a textile project with service users and staff at the existing day hospital which will begin in September 05. She will lead a series of 8 participatory workshops where service users will work with a variety of textile techniques including silk-painting and beading. The workshops will result in a series of artworks which will be displayed in the new Older Adult Day Unit. June will also be producing 4 of her own textile artworks, using felt mola and machine stitching techniques. The imagery for these textile artworks will be based on local fields and skyscapes and the Photographs, collages and prints made by participants during consultation workshops.
