Evaluation
Building on the Evidence: Moving On selected as a national Pathfinder Project by NHS Estates
Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) and the University of the West of England (UWE) have been awarded £107,709 for Building on the Evidence; a research project to explore the impact of the three year Moving On programme of integrated public art commissions within the Trust.
The evaluation will:
- Explore the impact of the arts programme on patients' and staff experience of the environment
- Explore the impact of the arts programme health and wellbeing, taking into account the diverse needs of user groups
- Explore experiences of involvement and ownership in relation to the project
- Identify the added value of arts based interventions in the management of transitions to new buildings and services
- Identify implications and develop models of best practice which can be applied in the future to AWP and Trusts throughout the country
The study is being undertaken by AWP and UWE in partnership, led by a research team based within UWE. It is a qualitative study using mixed methods; i.e. drawing on documentary data, interviews and focus groups over a two year period. The research is multi-disciplinary and the project team includes researchers from arts and social sciences disciplines. The final report will be delivered in December 2007.
Further information about the project can be obtained from Ellie Byrne, the researcher on the project on 0117 328 1109 or email eleanor4.byrne@uwe.ac.uk.
