New wood from old

Ash tree at Forest of Avon woodyard with Nick Sneller

The Forest of Avon has recently been appointed to create a reception desk and furniture as well as other decorative features for the entrance area to the new medium secure services unit.

ash tree - medium secure services site

This project is unique in that the Forest of Avon will be using the wood from an ash tree, which was felled from the site of the new unit last year, to create the pieces. They have been storing the tree since it was felled, at their woodyard in Bristol, ready for milling and preparing it once the designs are ready.

The Forest of Avon has a co-operative of 40 members working with wood in different ways. 2 of its makers, Tom Redfern, and Nick Sneller are leading the design for this commission and representing other co-op members who may become involved with the project.
