Forest of Avon
The Forest of Avon is working in partnership with AWP on a unique project
called Out of the Woods. This project aims to produce beautiful, functional,
indigenous wooden outdoor furniture to enhance the gardens of the new
facilities.
The Forest of Avon has a wide remit which includes the management of:
- Co-operative of Members
40 members who work with local sustainable wood in a range of ways including producing timber framed structures, bespoke furniture and paper. Products are made for sale in the local economy. The FoA is responsible for developing and expanding these businesses whilst supporting the sustainable management of local woodlands. - Woodland Management
FoA creates new woodlands, manages existing woodlands in and around Bristol and secures landscape, heritage and bio-diversity benefits on the non-wooded parts of the community forest through creating and restoring hedgerows and other habitat features. FoA is a source of grants for tree planting and the training of tree wardens and secures financial investment from local businesses and external sources. - Leisure and Recreation project development
FoA promotes leisure and recreation opportunities through events, publications and campaigns e.g. Walking to Health as well as creating and re-opening good quality walking, cycling and riding networks within the forest.
